Bigme Hibreak gets a non-cellular variant but it needs to justify its existence (2025)

Last year, Bigme released the Hibreak - an Android 4G smartphone with an E Ink display. It then followed it with a 5G model called the Hibreak Pro at the beginning of 2025. Now, a version of the Hibreak without cellular connectivity has surfaced.

First reported by Good e-reader, the device doesn't have an official name but a sticker on the retail box reads ePaper Reader HiBreak. The device has a similar design to the HiBreak (available on Amazon for $269.99) but there are a few differences between them.

The Hibreak e-reader has a 5.84-inch monochrome E Ink display with a 275 ppi. There doesn't seem to be a version of the device with a color E Ink screen as is the case with the cellular version (4G) of the Hibreak. It is powered by MediaTek's Helio P35 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It also has a MicroSD card slot for adding up to an additional 1TB of storage.

In an unboxing video of the device, it is revealed that the Hibreak has a hybrid SIM tray with the section for a SIM card blocked off, so owners can't insert a SIM card. Other features of the Hibreak e-reader are a 5MP front-facing camera, a 13MP rear camera, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 3,300mAh battery that charges via USB-C. It also has a single speaker located in the earpiece but lacks an audio jack. Like the Hibreak smartphone, this e-reader runs the outdated Android 11 out of the box.

The Bigme Hibreak e-reader isn't listed on Bigme's own site but it is available to buy from Good e-reader for $299, making it more expensive than the 4G version which is priced at $249 for the model with a black and white display, and $279 for the model with a color epaper screen. With this high price tag, interested buyers are better off purchasing the cellular variant.
